As part of its objectives,  the North Hertfordshire Arts Society promotes high quality arts activities for young people (“Young Arts”) and works for the conservation of our Heritage (Heritage Volunteers) and making detailed records of Churches (Church Recorders).

YOUNG ARTS     (volunteer organisers - Valerie Pennifer & Frances Drew )

We have four projects within our Young Arts umbrella:

North Hertfordshire College Supported Students – We work closely with The Supported Studies Department at North Hertfordshire College. In March the Students are invited to submit their artwork in the Art Society National Chairman’s Competition.

The culmination of the year’s work for the Students is an Art Exhibition at the College in June that subsequently comes to the Spirella Ballroom, Letchworth, for display at our July Lecture and quite a few paintings are bought by our Members; at our November Lecture, the Students hold a Christmas Fair.

Benslow Instrument Loan Scheme –Each year make a donation to assist in the buying of Instruments for loan to students

Arts Society North Herts RBA Submissions

Each year we invite local schools to submit art work from their final year students to the Arts Society Head Office to be considered for display in the RBA Exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London. This year, “Norfolk Coast 1” by Emma Phillips from Hitchin Girls’ School was been selected for the exhibition. (It is shown in our newsletter elsewhere on this web-site)

Hitchin Rotary /Arts Society Local Art Competition

The North Herts Society joins with the Rotary Club of Hitchin Rotary to organise an Art Competition for first year A level Art Students in the North Hertfordshire Schools. This year we received 30 entries. The winning work and runners up are shown at Rotary and Art Society meetings.
